CONCERNS OF POLICE SURVIVORS

COLORADO FALLEN HEROES LICENSE PLATES

A few years back, the family/friends of Sam Brownlee, a Weld County Deputy who was killed in the line of duty, sought to get commemorative plates to honor our fallen officers.  They were successful  in their efforts!   BUT... the plates are endangered of being retired if we do not get another 600 plates issued by July 1, 2017.

The only additional cost of the plates is a donation of $50 to Colorado Cops.  The donation name must match the plates being registered (or renewed). It is simple to do:

  1. Go to www.coloradocops.org and select the "license plates" tab.
  2. Make your $50 donation on line and print out the reciept.
  3. Take the reciept to DMV, along with your plate registration information and request a fallen officer plate.
  4. No additonal costs beyond the initial $50 donation.  (unless you get personalized plates - see DMV website for further info).
  5. Please help out and get your fallen Hereos plates A.S.A.P.

My career spanned 37 1/2 years.  When I retired, I put out a message to my department about my history, activities in the agency, some photos and also listed those who had been killed in the line of duty, in my career.  It was over 70+ officers!!  This only covered Colorado. I also lost a High School friend who was a deputy in Michigan.  Please consider getting plates to help COPS, and honor our own.  Mike Thornton
